The meanings of the words:

abound : to exist in great numbers or quantities.

technology : scientific knowledge used in practical ways in industry, for example in designing new machines.

prognosticate : to say that a thing will happen in the future.

automaton : a person who behaves like a machine, without thinking or feeling anything.

matron: an older married woman.
