As I promised , here I am going to talk about some common mistakes in English .
كما وعدتكم فهنا سأقوم بالتعريف ببعض الأخطاء الشائعة في الإنجليزية .

A , AN and THE

When do we need to use articles and how ?
متى نحتاج الى استخدام المعرفات وكيف ؟

1- We use articles when we are talking about singular countable nouns
نستخدم المعرفات عندما نتكلم عن مفرد لأسامي معدودة

I eat a banana everyday .
There has been an accident .

2- we use a/an when we are saying a thing for the first time and when we repeat it we use the .
نستخدم a/an في حال ذكرنا شيء لأول مرة وعندما نكرر هذا الشيء فإننا نستخدم the

I had a sandwich and an apple for lunch . The sandwich wasn't very good but the apple was nice .

A man and a woman were sitting in front of me . The man was Mexican but I think the woman is Arabic .

3- we use the when we are talking about something in particular
نستخدم the عندما نتكلم عن شيء معين

Ali sat down on a chair . ( any chair )
Ali sat down on the chair nearest the door . ( a particular chair )

4- we use the when it is clear in the situation which thing or person we mean .
نستخدم the عندما يكون واضحا لدينا الشخص أو الشيء المقصود في هذه الحالة

I would like to talk to the manager , please . ( the manager of this shop )

5- we use the when there is only one of something .
نستخدم the عندما يكون لدينا شيء واحد فقط من نفس النوعية .

Paris is the capital of France .
The earth is rounded .

6- we use a/an to say what kind of thing something is ?
نستخدم a/an لنوضح ماهية شيء ما .

The sun is a star .
